Fine Arts Teacher - Intermediate School Band Director - General Interest

About the role

Instruct students in all facets of 6th grade band classes/programming, as identified in our Frisco ISD Band Curriculum, and enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society through appropriate learning activities and experiences to help fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in all facets of 6th grade band classes/programming, as identified in our Frisco ISD Band Curriculum, and enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society through appropriate learning activities and experiences to help fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
• Develop an annual calendar of student performance opportunities and events in which campus participation is required (as outlined in the Frisco ISD Fine Arts Handbook) along with any other optional showcase or performance opportunities in which students may participate as requested by the campus.
• Teach and learn according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of all students.
• Maintain educational records demonstrating student mastery and growth in curricular content.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
• Support the mission of the Frisco Independent School District, to know each student by name and need.
• Ensure that program funds are managed wisely to stay within program budget allotment.
• Attend and actively participate in required District Professional Learning Communities.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
• Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Attend and participate in required professional development activities.
• Actively participate in official state organizations (such as TMEA).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

• Operational knowledge of all aspects of an intermediate school band program
• Effective classroom management and teaching skills
• Effective leadership skills
• Knowledge of state policies and expectations pertaining to music

• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of relevant technology
• Strong collaborative skills
• Experience in Instrumental Music, preferably with brass or woodwind

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule
