About the role

Under general supervision, performs professional level support for the District's financial systems utilized by all District departments; provides departmental interface with Information Systems staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer support and resolves systems issues through the financial systems team, offering direct assistance to District departments.
  • Assists in administration of accounting and payroll system security, maintains system tables, documents and analyzes departmental system requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and distributes user documentation; trains staff in accounting and payroll systems usage.
  • Interacts with all levels of internal staff to document accounting and payroll issues or develop functional specifications, including screen and report layouts.
  • Performs financial system acceptance testing; writes, executes, and analyzes test script results to ensure system integrity; performs quality assurance of financial system user documentation.
  • Coordinates and participates in financial and related analytical studies; conducts complex analyses of accounting and payroll systems in collaboration with centralized information systems staff.
  • Prepares reports, flowcharts, diagrams, documentation, and compiles financial information for staff use.
  • Assists with District-wide training programs related to financial systems utilization.
  • Performs management support activities such as preparing Board agenda items, conducting studies for School Board requests, and assessing financial impact of proposed legislation.
  • Contributes to unit efficiency and effectiveness by offering suggestions and participating as an active team member.
  • Uses standard office equipment, including computers; may operate a vehicle or arrange transportation for off-site meetings.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality of records and information.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with students, clients, visitors, and staff; promotes a harmonious workplace.
  • Promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and MPS information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, MIS, or related field AND 3 years of professional experience in financial systems administration and computer database management; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of governmental revenue and expenditure processes, fund accounting, and program evaluation.
  • Understanding of principles and practices of organizational and management analysis, financial systems development, and administration.
  • Familiarity with contract administration, data sampling, and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of District function, organization, and basic services; applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in computer applications related to the work, financial record keeping, and bookkeeping practices.
  • Skill in interpreting and applying requirements related to governmental budgeting, expenditure, revenue projection, cost controls, and contract administration.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, and develop business requirements for financial systems enhancements.
  • Experience in evaluating user system access requests to maintain internal controls.
  • Skill in planning, designing, testing, and coordinating financial system modifications.
  • Ability to create and conduct test plans for financial system enhancements.
  • Experience in planning, conducting, and coordinating complex systems and financial analytical projects.
  • Proficiency in using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Ability to compile and review system reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Skill in preparing timely and accurate financial system operational analyses.
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports.
  • Capability to work without close supervision in standard work situations.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to team goals and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Work is performed in a standard office environment. May require occasionally lifting file boxes or heavier materials with assistance, or frequently lifting and carrying light objects. The role may involve significant walking or standing, or prolonged sitting with extensive computer and phone usage.

Pay

Salary Range: $89,695 - $112,065
