Step into a pivotal role shaping the future of space operations as the Financial Management Leader for the 11th Sustainment Squadron within the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) System Delta 81 (SYD 81) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. Your primary purpose is to drive the financial strategy behind critical national security missions by formulating strategic program goals, robust financial plans, and overarching policies that directly enable the commander's mission objectives. You will serve as the indispensable primary civilian advisor to the 11 STS Materiel Leader, providing expert counsel and strategic foresight on all complex financial issues essential to the rapid development and fielding of cutting-edge Space Force Testing and Training capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic program goals, financial plans, and policies to support mission objectives.
  • Provide expert financial advisory oversight to ensure compliance with fiscal directives.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of major financial events, from fund allocation to fiscal year-end closeout.
  • Apply cost estimating applications to rigorous acquisition requirements.
  • Direct daily operations of a financial management division within a government or intelligence framework.
  • Organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate budgetary data and project results.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium-sized organization.
  • Mentor, motivate, and appraise staff.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft for Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY), approximately 15 days per year.
  • This position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • Financial Management Level 2 Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • Subject to a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period, depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted).
  • No Permanent Change of Station (PCS) or incentive authorized.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of legislation, Congressional, DoD, DAF, and HQ SpOC policies, processes, procedures, and regulations governing programming and budgeting.
  • Experience in developing multi-year program requirements plans and timetables.
  • Professional knowledge of accounting practices, methods, techniques, and generally accepted accounting principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of all phases of the Federal budget process and the DOD planning, programming, and budgeting/execution systems.
  • Skill in organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating budgetary data and project results.
  • Ability to apply various analytical methodologies and techniques to requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium-sized organization.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proven expertise in executing complex financial plans within a government or intelligence framework.
