Financial Services Tax Experienced Manager, State and Local Tax
Job Summary
A Tax Experienced Manager, State and Local Tax advises clients on tax implications, recommends courses of action, and identifies compliance methods. This role involves marketing, business development, and tax compliance, consulting, and controversy representation.
Job Duties

Researches complex situations, analyzes research findings, and drafts detailed reports.

Conducts detailed tax return reviews, responds to notices, and provides exam support.

Drafts tax memorandums, opinions, and documentation on various tax issues, and negotiates settlements and disclosures.

Manages client expectations, develops consultative selling strategies, and manages engagements.

Represents clients in tax authority disputes and utilizes tax-related software.

Provides technical client service, conducts negotiations, and drafts technical memoranda.

Prepares tax accrual workpapers, applies tax standards, and prepares tax provisions.

Develops new or improved tax strategies and assists with potential tax strategy research.

Reviews tax implications, identifies alternative courses of action, and assists with new client acquisition.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's degree, required; Master's degree in Accounting/Taxation or J.D., preferred.

Six (6) or more years of prior experience in state and local/multistate experience, required.

Experience supervising tax professionals, required.

Experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions, preferred.

Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships, preferred.

CPA certification or other relevant certification, preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, preferred.
Education

Bachelor's degree, required.

Masters degree in Accounting/Taxation or J.D., preferred.
