Job Summary

A Tax Experienced Manager, State and Local Tax advises clients on tax implications, recommends courses of action, and identifies compliance methods. This role involves marketing, business development, and tax compliance, consulting, and controversy representation.

Job Duties

  • Researches complex situations, analyzes researched facts, and prepares detailed reports.

  • Conducts detailed reviews of tax returns, responds to notices, and provides exam support.

  • Drafts tax memorandums, opinions, and documentation on various tax issues, and negotiates settlements and representations.

  • Manages engagements, develops consultative selling strategies, and manages client expectations.

  • Represents clients in tax authority disputes and utilizes tax-related software.

  • Provides technical client service, drafts technical memoranda, and develops new tax strategies.

  • Develops new or improved ideas to benefit clients, the firm, or personnel through tax savings or non-tax benefits.

  • Assists with researching potential tax strategies and suggests marketing approaches for new client acquisition.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree, required
  • Masters degree in Accounting/Taxation or J.D., preferred
  • Six (6) or more years of prior experience in state and local/multistate experience, required
  • Experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis, required
  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions, preferred
  • Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships, preferred
  • CPA certification or other relevant certification, preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word, preferred
