About the Role
Eckert Seamans is a full-service national law firm with a strong reputation and history of success spanning more than 65 years. With approximately 300 lawyers across a network of 14 offices, we provide clients with proactive, solution-oriented business and litigation counsel. We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant for our White Plains, NY office.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of legal documents such as letters, correspondence, briefs, notices, pleadings, and motions.
- Familiarity with state (NY & CT) and federal court rules, procedures, and filings (including e-filing).
- Experience with all aspects of NY Foreclosure Sales, including Bankruptcy searches.
- Daily monitoring of deadlines, calendars, voicemails, and answering phones as requested per attorney.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and provide trial support as requested.
- Coordination of conference calls, video conferences, and other interpersonal communication.
- General utilization and submission of clerical and administrative forms such as check requests and expense reports.
- Maintain client files (electronic and hard copy).
- Coordination of large-scale document jobs with Office Services.
- Copying and scanning of documents.
- Opening and closing of client matters.
- Provide general assistance firmwide as a member of the legal support team as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience as an assistant, preferably in a law firm environment.
- Strong litigation experience and/or bankruptcy experience.
- Experience with NY foreclosure sales.

- Knowledge of legal terminology and state and federal procedures.
- Aptitude for learning new applications, systems, and processes.
- Proficient with electronic court filing (preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe.
- Proficient with document management systems, iManage preferred.
- Proficient with redlining, track changes, table of authorities, and table of contents (preferred).

Pay
In compliance with New York Transparency Law, the salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $80,000.00. The salary information is provided as a general guideline only, as various factors will be considered to determine the offer for this role, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, relevant work skills and experience, and education.
