About the role
Direct and manage junior staff in a variety of accounting and financial reporting activities. Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, review, production, and distribution of internal and external corporate and bank financial reports and data submissions. Reports are distributed to or filed with the Truist Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and Federal Reserve Board (FRB).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across the Finance division to ensure integrity of financials and sound controls and procedures.
- Support reporting and analysis for additional constituencies, including Board of Directors, Investor Relations, and various regulatory agencies.
- Compile, review, analyze, and submit timely and accurate reporting in accordance with complex GAAP and Regulatory Reporting Requirements.
- Ensure source data is reliable, complete, and documentation is maintained to support data integrity initiatives.
- Interpret and summarize results and trends for Senior Leadership.
- Apply knowledge of best practices to assist in solving higher operational or technical complexity problems using data analysis, experience, judgment, and precedents.
- Prepare and review materials for senior leadership summarizing issues and communicating solutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting and regulatory reporting requirements and processes for assigned area of responsibility.
- Maintain technical and working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), building expertise in assigned area.
- Deepen understanding of complex accounting and regulatory reporting matters.
- Coordinate with internal and external audits and examinations, collaborating with other business units on responses to external and regulatory requests.
- Assist in risk management governance and business continuity planning processes as necessary.
- Maintain strong working relationships with supported business areas to complete tasks and deliver high-quality work.
- Maintain relationships with cross-functional departments to broaden knowledge and solve complex situations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent education and related training.
- Five years of relevant accounting or accounting policy experience.
- Understanding of GAAP and SEC/Regulatory Reporting.
- Ability to take direction and work independently while considering broader implications or necessary additional analysis.
- Ability to build consensus through communication and presentation of factual and relevant information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sound and logical decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work well with others in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and other basic software products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or advanced degree in Business or Accountancy.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation; strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Prior experience working for a large, SEC-registered financial institution or as a senior manager-level public accountant with extensive bank experience.
- Prior experience as an examiner of financial reports for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), FRB, or FDIC.
- Proficient in Essbase/Hyperion, EPM/BPC, and Workiva.
