About the role
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a product manager to join its Financial Operations Technology team and assist with the development and implementation of systems and processes. This role focuses on Fund Accounting and involves working closely with business users, software developers, and quality engineers to improve accounting and investor reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with business users, software developers, and quality engineers to conceptualize and develop solutions that improve finance and operations functions.
- Understand business needs, specify technical requirements, prioritize product roadmaps, and support existing applications.
- Partner closely with global leaders on the information technology and Finance and Operations teams.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or higher and at least seven years of relevant work experience is required. Experience with fund accounting is a significant plus.
- A willingness to take initiative and dive into details, plus the ability to manage projects to completion, is critical for this role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-technical systems users into technical requirements, and the judgment to exercise a high level of discretion with confidential information are essential.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to see how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (systems thinking) are crucial.
Qualifications
- Applicants with a bachelor's degree or higher and at least seven years of relevant work experience are preferred.
- Experience with fund accounting is a significant plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.

Pay
The expected annual base salary for this position is $175,000 to $225,000.
