About the role

The Financial & Operations Analyst at Rubicon plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, operational analysis, and process execution. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this full-time, exempt position is integral to supporting company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and core finance operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and contract data management. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with sales, sourcing, SMB/e-commerce, and key accounts teams to provide analytical insights that drive operational efficiency and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis and trend identification.
  • Support the month-end closing process, weekly reporting, and KPI analysis for operational and client performance metrics.
  • Assist in preparing comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reports for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual budget by partnering with key account directors and business unit leaders.
  • Collaborate with sales and cross-functional teams during the RFP process, providing pricing analysis, cost modeling, and operational benchmarking.
  • Monitor and analyze hauler costs, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Track, analyze, and report on late fees, including root cause analysis and process improvement recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain reporting on Rubicon Asset Management equipment, supporting capital expenditure planning and margin analysis.
  • Lead analysis for SMB and e-commerce accounts, providing insights to maximize financial performance and customer retention.
  • Validate sales commission and incentive plan data to ensure accuracy and support timely payouts.
  • Partner with finance, sales, sourcing, and HR teams to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and research as requested by senior management.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and company policies, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, or a related financial field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Solid financial, analytical, and accounting skills, with a working knowledge of financial statements and metrics.
  • Understanding of financial theory, economics, and GAAP principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with EPM tools is advantageous.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Discretion and trustworthiness in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Self-motivated with adaptability to change and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and independently when required.
  • Willingness to travel or work onsite as necessary.
