About the role

This position manages financial management resources to ensure efficient and compliant execution of programs and processes. Duties include preparing and delivering briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions to influence managers and others to accept findings and recommendations. Assessing reports and developing recommendations for management's consideration is also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Manages programs and processes to ensure efficient and compliant execution of financial management resources.
  • Prepares and delivers briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions with other staff service functions and activities to influence managers and others to accept findings and recommendations.
  • Affirms a variety of reports received from internal and external sources to develop formalized recommendations for management's consideration.
  • Evaluates operations, policies, procedures, and internal controls of financial operations to prevent and detect deficiencies in the operation of financial management areas.
  • Receives special projects pertaining to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of financial management operations and related functional requirements.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen. This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959). Suitable for Federal employment. Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification. New employees to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.

Qualifications

To be hired at the GS-05 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have: Three years of generalized experience, of which one year is equivalent to performing duties that support the processing of financial/accounting transactions using standardized procedures. Substitution of Education for GS-05 Specialized Experience: Four full years of undergraduate education, working towards a bachelor's degree, may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Skills

Applicants must have related financial experience AND/OR a related financial degree (examples include: Finance, Accounting, Management, Actuarial Science, or related degrees), in addition to meeting Office of Personnel Management (OPM) minimum qualification requirements. Substitution of combination of education and experience must still, in conjunction, minimally satisfy the DHA qualification requirement.

Benefits

The position offers benefits including but not limited to: Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case-by-case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need. Moving expenses will not be paid. The position is Non Exempt at the GS-05 and GS-07 levels and Exempt at the GS-09 and GS-11 levels from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Travel requirement is seldom. This position is not covered by a bargaining unit. The position will be covered by formal training under the DFAS Career Acclimation Program (DCAP).

Pay

The minimum salary for grade GS-05 is $40,736, maximum $55,296. The minimum salary for GS-07 is $50,460, maximum $68,496. The minimum salary for grade GS-09 is $61,722, maximum $83,787. The minimum salary for grade GS-11 is $74,678, maximum $101,375.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is typically full-time. However, telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case-by-case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need.
