Financial Informaticist - Decision Support - Full Time 9 hours Days (Variable) (Non-Union, Exempt)

About the role

The position is a Protocol Coordinator for the Clinical Investigation Office (CISO) at Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC).

Responsibilities

• Reviews new protocols for approval, ensuring they are necessary and feasible.
• Ensures protocols are conducted as written and assesses protocol deviations and violations.
• Enters Serious Adverse Events (SAE) into iStar and notifies the Data Manager promptly.
• Interacts with monitors from pharmaceutical companies and provides assistance to biostatisticians.
• Keeps Data Managers updated on patient status and assists in training other coordinators.
• Manages patient eligibility, schedules tests, and obtains informed consent.
• Enters and updates protocol-specific data management forms and records patient toxicities.
• Calculates and administers correct doses of investigational drugs, ensuring patient compliance.
• Coordinates specimen collection and transportation, following IATA and sponsor guidelines.
• Ensures accurate documentation of patient data and completes clinical research forms.
• Communicates with physicians, patients, and hospital staff to ensure protocol adherence.
• Conducts in-service classes and acts as a resource for protocol-related questions.
• Assesses and manages adverse reactions, ensuring proper documentation and communication with physicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum one year experience as a Registered Nurse
• Current California Registered Nurse license
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
• Completion of Human Subjects Training, HIPAA, GCP, and Sexual Harassment online courses
• Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogens and obtaining shipping certificates

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $50.13 to $62.89.

Schedule

Hours are flexible but consistent with the needs of the clinical trials program.
