About the role

The Senior Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting hospital and corporate initiatives through financial analysis and decision support. They assist in developing analyses and reports, managing budgets, and enhancing financial systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops analyses and reports to support hospital and corporate initiatives, including financial evaluations of strategic initiatives.
  • Produces monthly management reports as assigned.
  • Loads data extracts into cost accounting, decision support, and budget software, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Participates in the development of cost accounting standards and educates users on these standards.
  • Works with department managers and administration to develop the annual operating budget.
  • Collaborates with various financial systems, including Kaufman Hall, Lawson, Cerner, Showcase, Kronos, and Enterprise reporting.
  • Assists in the capital budget approval process (RAC).
  • Aids in the enhancement of budget, cost accounting, and decision support systems, including custom report writing.
  • Displays proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and database query engines.
  • Participates on and assists various committees within the Medical Center and Finance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information, such as patient records and staff salaries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of accounting, financial analysis, and decision support experience in a hospital or similar environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, and evaluation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organization and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL database software such as Access.
