Financial Governance / Cost Management Deputy
About the role
The Financial Governance / Cost Management Deputy supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of financial governance practices across the Energy and Power Program Management Team. This role develops and analyzes financial reports, identifies trends and risks, and partners with program leadership to ensure adherence to established governance frameworks, financial controls, and organizational objectives.
The successful candidate reviews financial processes, data, and reporting methodologies, recommending improvements that enhance transparency, accountability, compliance, and decision-making. This position requires the ability to translate complex financial and business issues into clear, actionable information for a variety of audiences. The Deputy champions best practices and standardized processes that strengthen both client-facing and internal financial governance activities.

Responsibilities
- Support the execution and continuous improvement of financial governance frameworks, processes, and controls across assigned programs.
- Partner with leadership and stakeholders to drive compliance with financial governance requirements and organizational policies.
- Organize financial data, reports, graphs, and other material in a logical format and execute reporting as needed on a regular interval.
- Analyze financial performance, budgets, forecasts, and cost data to identify trends, risks, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Compare data to established norms to verify consistent updates and validity to baseline data.
- Review published reports and materials, and recommend revisions or changes in data, format, or content.
- Perform data analysis and organize data for ease of viewing via software tools.
- Recommend and implement financial governance improvements that enhance financial transparency, accountability, efficiency, and decision-making.
- Monitor program financial performance and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and address variances.
- Coordinate stakeholder feedback and ensure timely completion of governance actions and deliverables.
- Promote adoption of best practices and standardized financial governance processes across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience with strong emphasis on communication, business, finance, or accounting preferred; others considered.
- 8-12 years’ experience as a business or financial analyst with demonstrated work products.
- Ability to work in teams and actively participate in decision-making.
- Capable of analyzing complex issues and evaluating alternatives to achieve quality solutions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
- Ability to contribute in a team environment and work across multiple departments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and prioritize numerous simultaneous tasks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting and forecasting, accounting concepts, and auditing and reconciling multiple invoices and budgets.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to review and analyze team deliverables and coordinate feedback from stakeholders.
- Experience facilitating meetings and producing/distributing meeting documents.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, process optimization, and governance excellence.
Position to be hybrid depending upon candidate’s location. Up to 50% travel may be required.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $155,600.00 to $204,225.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
