Financial Counselor
The Financial Counselor serves as the health care facility’s primary contact to provide financial counseling to all insured patients for purposes of securing prepayment in full or within 30 days of any patient liability. Liability includes any financial responsibility such as co-payment, deductible and co-insurance.

Responsibilities
- Provide financial counseling to insured patients to secure prepayment in full or within 30 days of any patient liability.
- Assist patients with understanding and navigating payment plans and insurance coverage.
- Handle inquiries regarding patient financial responsibilities and assist in resolving disputes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and third-party payers to facilitate timely payments.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to patient financial responsibility.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of patient interactions and financial transactions.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills in financial counseling and patient communication.
Requirements
- Minimum Required: High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED).
- 1 year of experience in the collection field.
- 2 years prior office/clerical experience with the ability to perform simple mathematical computations with high degree of accuracy.
- Preferred: Additional collection experience and knowledge of medical terminology.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic computer skills including data entry and spreadsheet management.

- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and billing processes.
