Financial Counselor

Overview

Employer paid benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision. Wage compensation ranges from $24.65 to $37.75 per hour. Schedules offered are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm and 9:30am to 6pm.

Definition Of Position

The Patient Financial Counselor is responsible for working accounts to ensure timely resolution. This role requires a strong understanding of the Revenue Cycle, particularly in managing patient accounts from creation to payment.

Responsibilities

• Work independently and collaborate with management and team to resolve self-pay accounts.
• Respond promptly to emails and phone messages from patients, physicians, attorneys, and team members.
• Navigate payer websites to gather necessary data for account resolution.
• Contact patients via phone, email, or online to conduct account activity and update status.
• Verify patient eligibility for available hospital and government assistance programs.
• Create and maintain accurate records in the patient accounting system.
• Escalate payment delays and aged accounts to managers.
• Support team members during absences or backlog situations.
• Communicate potential delays and trends with payors and implement corrective actions.
• Document findings and communicate results of special projects.
• Support the hospital's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years hospital collection experience.
• Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
• High School Diploma or equivalent education.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting light office items (up to 25 pounds).
• Visual acuity to view computer screens and read detailed financial documents.
• Effective communication skills in person, by phone, and electronically.
• May be required to move throughout the healthcare facility, including administrative and clinical areas.

Pay & Schedule
