Financial Counselor
About the role
Park Nicollet is seeking a Financial Counselor to join their team. The role involves interfacing with patients, PNHS staff, Insurance providers, and County Social Services and vendors to meet the needs of the patient. Key responsibilities include providing price estimates for hospital and clinic visits, estimating insurance reimbursements, educating about Park Nicollet financial assistance programs, assisting with completing necessary paperwork, accepting payments for clinic and hospital accounts, and helping with applications for federal and state benefit programs.
Responsibilities
- Interact with patients, PNHS staff, Insurance providers, and County Social Services and vendors to address patient needs.
- Provide price estimates for hospital and clinic visits.
- Estimate insurance reimbursements and educate about financial assistance programs.
- Aid in completing necessary paperwork and assist with applications for federal and state benefit programs.
- Accept payments for clinic and hospital accounts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must complete Insurance Selection Specialist certification and maintain certification yearly.
- Demonstrated P/C and keyboard experience.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Demonstrated written/verbal communication skills.
- Proven skills in organizing, planning, and self-directing own assignments.
- Good judgment and handling stressful situations.
- Clear and accurate communication in writing and verbally.
- Basic arithmetic competency.
- Working knowledge of general financial proceedings, government rules and regulations, and insurance related to healthcare.
Qualifications
- Post high school degree or certification.
- 2-3 years healthcare experience that includes registration and healthcare insurance/revenue experience.

- Demonstrated P/C and keyboard experience.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Demonstrated written/verbal communication skills.
- Proven organizational and planning skills.
- Good judgment and stress management.
