Financial Counselor - ACU | Neurosciences - Halifax | Daytona Beach | Full-Time | Days

About the role

To deliver excellent patient-centered service by facilitating established financial processes that enable and expedite the billing and collection of professional services. This position interacts directly with internal and external customers of the practice and may require floating to other UFHP practices or flexing time as needed for staffing.

Responsibilities

• Enter charges and apply coding/billing rules
• Maximize collections and verify insurance
• Obtain authorizations for services
• Review patient account detail
• Provide financial counseling to patients
• Resolve front-end edits, rejections, and information requests to achieve practice goals

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Two years of business, financial, or physician practice experience (preferably related to patient accounts and collections)
• Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis coding preferred
• Four-year degree may substitute for two years of financial/physician office experience
• Associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for one year of required experience
• EPIC system knowledge preferred

• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable collecting payments and counseling patients regarding financial matters in a professional manner
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and function in a team environment
