Financial Counseling Representative

About the role

At R1, you'll be part of a mission-driven team blending advanced technology with real-world service to create exceptional patient experiences. As a Financial Counseling Representative, you will provide exceptional financial counseling support, helping patients understand insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs, meet with patients to discuss payment options and financial assistance programs, verify insurance eligibility, and assist with Medicaid and financial assistance applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional financial counseling support by helping patients understand insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs
• Meet with patients to discuss payment options and financial assistance programs
• Verify insurance eligibility and explain benefits clearly
• Aid in Medicaid and financial assistance applications
• Build trust with patients during stressful financial situations
• Collaborate with care teams and revenue cycle departments
• Maintain accurate documentation across multiple systems

• Exceptional customer service experience, communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates genuine compassion, empathy, and patience when supporting patients, clients, and team members
• Ability to explain financial and insurance concepts clearly
• High attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize quickly
• Professionalism with sensitive financial conversations

Pay

The base pay range for this US-based position is $15.43 - $20.82 per hour. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
