Involves contacting insurance companies to obtain benefits and documenting within patient charts. In some instances, authorization for services may need to be requested from the insurance company. Continual verification of insurance status throughout the transplant process is also necessary.

Financial Counseling

Meet with individual patients to discuss benefits obtained from insurance providers. Develop a relationship with patients and provide them with documents and resources during the financial interview. Be available to patients as needed throughout the organ transplant process.

Behind the Scenes Financial Documentation

Track financial costs related to transplant evaluation and serve as a point of contact for hospital and transplant team members to verify eligible transplant expenses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current knowledge of insurance systems and benefits is beneficial
