About the role
The Financial Controller serves as the senior finance leader for Mondi Americas’ Pittsburgh manufacturing site, supporting both the Paper Bags and Mailer Bags businesses. This role leads all site finance activities, including financial reporting, FP&A, cost accounting, and working capital management, while partnering closely with Operations, Commercial, and regional finance leadership. Reporting to the Site Managing Director with a dotted line to the Vice President, Finance, the Controller ensures financial integrity, drives performance, and supports strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary finance partner to the Site Managing Director and site leadership team
- Own financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness
- Deliver monthly performance analysis with clear insights on drivers, risks, and actions
- Manage the monthly Flash forecast aligned to budget and commitments
- Drive accountability for financial performance, cash flow, and operating targets
- Lead FP&A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking
- Conduct profitability and cost analysis across products, customers, and channels
- Partner with Sales on pricing, negotiations, and margin optimization
- Translate operational and commercial activity into actionable financial insights
- Partner with Operations to improve productivity, cost efficiency, and utilization
- Analyze manufacturing variances and drive operational improvements
- Own inventory valuation, accuracy, and working capital optimization
- Oversee accounting activities and ensure accurate and timely financial close
- Maintain strong internal controls, balance sheet discipline, and IFRS compliance
- Lead audits and foster a culture of accountability and financial discipline
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent preferred
- 8+ years of experience in accounting, FP&A, or manufacturing finance
- Strong manufacturing finance and cost accounting expertise
- Experience in multi-site or complex production environments
- Proven success partnering with Operations to drive performance improvements
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audit processes
- SAP or equivalent ERP system experience
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to influence senior leaders and translate data into business insights
