Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and cash-management activities
- Maintain the general ledger and review journal entries for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements
- Produce journal entries, financial reports, and profit-and-loss statements by location
- Achieve accurate and complete consolidation of financial results across all locations
- Process biweekly payroll; payroll tax filings are handled separately
- Prepare and file applicable sales tax returns
- Aid leadership with the annual budgeting process
- Monitor fixed assets and capital spending in relation to approved budgets
- Ensure balance-sheet accounts are properly reconciled and supported
- Provide oversight and analysis related to applicable cost-accounting activities
- Continue improving accounting operations, including the organization's accounts-payable automation initiative
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure consistent accounting practices across all locations
- Identify accounting and business-process improvements and ensure initiatives are completed successfully
- Cross-train team members to improve coverage, collaboration, and departmental effectiveness
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for general ledger accounting, financial reporting, audits, and month-end close
- A strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, payroll, sales tax, fixed assets, and balance-sheet reconciliations
- Experience supporting a multi-location organization is strongly preferred
- Exposure to cost accounting is preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains is helpful but not required
- Experience with a comparable ERP system, such as Sage or NetSuite, will also be considered
Pay & Benefits
- Base salary: $120,000–$140,000, based on experience
- Incentive opportunity: 5% of base salary
