Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, cash forecasts, budgets, and special financial analyses.
- Manage all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory management, credit and collections, and payroll.
- Maintain financial systems and records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the accounting team while supporting a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing work environment.
- Manage treasury functions and monitor company cash flow.
- Prepare borrowing base reports and ensure compliance with lender reporting requirements.
- Cook up annual income tax filings with the company’s outside CPA firm.
- Cook up annual audit conducted by the outside CPA firm.
- Work closely with production staff to maintain and improve the cost accounting system.
- Monitor job costs, inventory, manufacturing variances, and operating results to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support company decision-making.
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process by working with members of the management team to collect, analyze, and consolidate financial information.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
- Evaluate current accounting systems and processes and identify ways to improve accuracy, efficiency, and financial visibility.
- Cook up ERP system improvements and future implementations.
- Conduct internal and external audits as needed.
- Axle special projects and complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- At least 7 years of accounting experience within the manufacturing industry required.
- Strong manufacturing cost accounting experience required.
- Experience with financial reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, job costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis required.
- Experience managing accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, cost accounting, and inventory management required.
- Experience with ERP systems and ERP implementations required.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial reporting software required.
- Experience with ADP Payroll required.
- Previous audit experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations rather than simply reporting results required.
- Proactive, hands-on leadership style with a strong sense of ownership and accountability required.
- High level of integrity, credibility, and sound professional judgment required.
- Ability to work closely with the President and management team while taking ownership of the company’s financial operations required.
