About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our growing, project-driven organization. This is a high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the CFO, responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, driving job costing and WIP reporting, and providing the financial insight needed to support strategic growth. Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance and the monthly close process.
- Oversee job costing and monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting using percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Monitor project profitability by identifying cost overruns, underbilling, overbillings, and financial risks.
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management.
- Track change orders, contract billing terms, schedules of values (SOVs), and project financial performance.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support external audits, lender reporting, and surety bonding requirements.
- Manage company cash position, banking relationships, and credit facilities.
- Maintain certificates of insurance, surety schedules, and policy renewals.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, sales and use tax requirements, payroll taxes, and 1099 reporting.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, purchase orders, and vendor/customer accounting processes.
- Help develop and mentor future accounting staff as the finance department continues to grow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
- Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft 365 (especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CCIFP (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional), or CMA designation.
- Experience with Procore or other construction ERP/accounting platforms.
- Previous experience in electrical contracting, commercial construction, or mission-critical/data center projects.
- Experience managing surety relationships, bonding capacity, and lender reporting.
- Familiarity with Monday.com or similar project/workflow management software.
