Financial Analyst Senior

This position is involved in budgeting, strategic planning, variance, patient account and operations data, and ad-hoc analysis processes. It ensures sound financial operations and produces financial planning and analytical solutions—such as financial forecasts, reports, dashboards, and tools—for leadership and stakeholders across the organization to support business or clinical initiatives. The role provides support in the development, analysis, and interpretation of routine to moderately complex data sources to drive process improvement, operations, strategy, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Leads activities related to budgeting, strategic planning, variance reporting, and ad-hoc analysis processes for a facility, region, division, or system-wide team.
  • Completes defined tasks related to routine and non-routine/complex functions (e.g., operating budget, capital budget, strategic planning, patient accounts, and operations).
  • Prepares financial analysis, variance reports, and ad-hoc reports, working with internal customers to develop quantitative reports using data sources to analyze clinical and operational issues.
  • Acts as a technical expert and resource for others on financial systems and processes, serving as a problem solver and mentor.
  • Collects data from various Intermountain Healthcare data sources, coordinating with others to gather information, schedule processes, and communicate issues.
  • Performs in-depth analysis to identify financial trends and economic and business forecasts of reporting outcomes and variances with minimal supervision.
  • Creates and maintains databases for data collection and tracking related to performance measurement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field (required; must be from an accredited institution).
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting and finance tracking responsibilities.
  • Experience requiring effective project management skills, high accuracy, and sound decision-making with limited supervision.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, email, and scheduling applications.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years of professional experience conducting and evaluating routine financial analysis.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field with two years of experience in financial analysis (from an accredited institution).
  • Knowledge of Intermountain Healthcare finances and financial processes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, documents, monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent verbal communication with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors.
  • Manual dexterity for complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use for typing and accessing information.

Schedule

  • Business hours, 2 days per week in office, 3 days remote.
  • 40 scheduled weekly hours.

Pay

Hourly rate: $37.87 - $59.63 (dependent upon experience).
