Financial Analyst, Operations

About the role

As Financial Analyst, you will prepare sub-ledgers for periodic financial statements with analysis forming part of schedules and notes. This role coordinates with teams such as IT, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, and Operations. You will also play an active role in system improvements and controls by participating in various projects, aiding in the preparation of management reports, analysis, forecasting, audit preparation, and ensuring statutory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze assigned portions of financial statements periodically and perform variance analysis comparing last period and last year results.
• Assist in preparing management reports with detailed analytical insights into reasons for variances.
• Assist with all audit inquiries for the yearly financial audit, providing proper reasons and backups.
• Participate in system improvements and controls in SAP by coordinating with other teams.
• Monitor internal controls to ensure accounting activities comply with established legal, regulatory, and company policies.
• Assist in forecasting and cash flow projection for management on an ongoing basis.
• Create financial models by performing ad-hoc financial analysis to provide financial impact and recommendations to management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, provincial, state, and federal tax filings and reporting requirements.
• Manage intercompany transactions by ensuring proper controls and coordination.
• Ensure all financial transactions are recorded properly and prepare periodic accruals.
• Prepare schedules and reconciliations for major accounts such as treasury.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum 2 years of accounting and finance experience.
• Strong FICO experience in SAP (preferable).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Manufacturing and food industry experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, presentation, and multi-tasking skills.
• Working towards CPA is an asset.
