About the role

The Financial Analyst reports to the Director of Operations of GCCIS and provides high-level financial and accounting support to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures while delivering exceptional service to college leadership, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting, budgeting, financial planning, analysis, and reporting to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Reconcile and monitor a wide range of accounts, including external and internal awards, faculty start-up packages, operating budgets, gift accounts, and overhead accounts.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for faculty on budget-related matters, providing financial guidance and support to advance their research objectives.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators and department staff to ensure accurate and timely post-award financial management for a portfolio of externally sponsored grants and contracts, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, and resolution of outstanding financial issues.
  • Prepare journal entries and process invoice payments, purchase orders, and travel expense reimbursements.
  • Process procurement card transactions, payroll transactions, and student account adjustments.
  • Provide guidance and high-quality customer service to faculty and staff on financial processes and Workday.
  • Design, prepare, and present financial information to the leadership team to assist with ongoing management and decision making regarding the college's finances and operations.
  • Maintain analysis and financial forecasting across the organization, including complex compensation-related reconciliations.
  • Prepare cost models based on data from general ledger, registrar, student financial services, and fixed assets.
  • Complete and evaluate complex reconciliations and analysis of financial accounts, including operating, capital, special, discretionary, start-up, internal grants, and overhead project accounts to ensure transactions are accurate and in compliance with applicable institution policies and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop annual operating budget based on current salary recommendations, current and new academic and operational initiatives, and revenue forecasts.
  • Prepare various standard and ad hoc reporting and analysis for management decision-making for multiple stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with post-award grant administration.
  • Experience with an enterprise-wide financial management system; Workday experience is preferred.
  • MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced financial credential preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with RIT policies, procedures, and financial systems is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, and budgeting practices and protocols to ensure accurate financial management and compliance.
  • Knowledge of enterprise-wide financial applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Skill in synthesizing and analyzing financial data and preparing detailed reports to support decision-making and budgeting activities.
  • Skill in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise professional judgment regarding financial decisions.

Specialized Contributor Level 3 – A senior-level role requiring broad understanding of the profession or field of work. Independently leads diverse and often complex assignments, projects, or programs. May act as a mentor and guide less experienced staff.
