Responsibilities
- Guide and support Stamford Hospital research financial operations, indirectly impacting patient care by interacting with physicians and research coordinators directly involved in patient care.
- Mitigate compliance and financial risks associated with clinical research.
- Develop timely and accurate Medicare Coverage Analyses.
- Access Stamford Hospital’s Charge Description Master (CDM) and help develop an up-to-date CDM for clinical research.
- Utilize the MCA billing grid to develop budgets for all items and services provided by Stamford Hospital for clinical research projects.
- Coordinate the negotiation and execution of study agreements with Principal Investigators (PIs) to ensure Stamford Hospital is indemnified.
- Serve as on-site liaison to investigators for MCA issues and assist in developing SOPs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Manage, implement, and monitor compliance with the clinical trial management system.
- Interface closely with clinical research coordinators, investigators, Pharmacy, Registration, Department Directors, Risk Management, and Compliance to ensure all clinical research events are captured in a timely and accurate manner.
- Obtain or prepare key research financial reports for internal distribution to departments, investigators, and research staff.
- Review research expenditures against budgeted amounts and revenues.
- Monitor trial accounts and assist trial personnel with financial and administrative problems that arise.
- Support Accounting personnel in reviewing expenditures and receipts at trial completion to ensure all are accounted for.
- Demonstrate effective professional communication and facilitate open communication among all SH research staff.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of communication and foster professional presentation of verbal and written communication.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments to ensure Stamford Hospital policies are consistent with up-to-date information.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in life sciences or an applicable related field with three (3) years of relevant experience; or five (5) years of relevant work experience. Applicable fields may include business administration, accounting, or research experience.
- Human Research Subject Protection certification.
- Knowledge of key financial regulations regarding research: FDA / OHRP / ORI / DHHS.
- Understanding of Medicare billing rules, National Coverage Decisions, and CMS research policy (highly preferred).
- Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting (strongly preferred).
