Research, prepare, and analyze investment performance and economic activity reports. Prepare financial analyses and forecasts including assets and liability management (ALM) modeling, rate shocks, and cash-flow projections. Assist Finance and Accounting leadership in managing the investment portfolio, ensuring quality and asset growth. Oversee record keeping, reporting, and loan participation pools.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monitoring and projection reports for cash requirements, cash availability, and funding.
- Assist with loan funding projections and deposit flows; project funding requirements one week and one month in advance.
- Maintain accounting and operations support functions to ensure adequate control of investment accounts; provide data to the Accounting Department.
- Maintain appropriate settlement and safekeeping controls; monitor the collection of interest payments.
- Price the Credit Union’s portfolio monthly or as required.
- Contribute to strategies to maximize interest margins and minimize non-earning assets.
- Prepare financial projections and evaluations, including peer analysis and reporting.
- Proactively manage credit analysis review activities to maintain high-quality investments in accordance with Credit Union policy and legal requirements.
- Recommend changes in financial controls, policies, and programs to preserve and increase Credit Union assets.
- Serve as an ALM specialist: run computer simulation models, update historical records, provide forecasts, and analyze data.
- Maintain portfolio records; make daily entries to sub-ledgers to update portfolio files and investment logs.
- Prepare sub-ledger reports for Finance and Accounting management and the Finance Committee; distribute detailed schedules of portfolios held, including interest accrued and reconciled.
- Prepare daily and monthly safekeeping statements and confirmations.
- Prepare the Federal Reserve Bank's reserve balance requirements; ensure accuracy and legal compliance of all scheduled Federal reporting requirements.
- Compile and report participated loan data to participants monthly.
- Prepare analysis for borrowings and advances on Credit Union lines of credit; complete miscellaneous financial analyses, reports, and records.
- Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
- Assist in the preparation of Asset Liability Committee reports; participate in other Management and Board presentations as needed.
- Maintain and convey the Credit Union's professional reputation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of related experience.
- 4-year college degree in finance or a related subject.
- Excel: comfortable creating and modifying lookup tables, pivot tables, logic filters, IF functions, formulas, reports, multi-print jobs, charts, and graphs; ability to troubleshoot Excel data and formulas.
- Knowledge of related accounting and computer applications.
- Thorough understanding of investments, financial research, and reporting.
- Solid analytical and organizational abilities.
- Good written and oral communication skills; attentive to detail.
- Good project management abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced Excel skills: CHOOSE functions, power pivot, VB macros, array formulas.
- SQL DB Management experience.
- FIS Ambit/BancWare: Model design and management experience.
Physical Abilities / Working Conditions
- Ability to talk, hear, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms consistently.
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds consistently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Moderate noise environment (business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
- This role does not qualify for remote or hybrid work; on-site only.
