Financial Analyst

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze monthly financial performance compared to budget.
• Generate and maintain monthly financial reports for department leaders for institutional, grant, project, and endowment accounts.
• Generate monthly forecasts and submit to budget office and other internal stakeholders as needed.
• Prepare ad hoc reports as requested.
• Respond to ad hoc requests and provide financial interpretation and analysis.
• Create financial presentations for various audiences and levels of complexity.

Budgeting

• Aids in the preparation of annual budgets including development of department budget guidelines, processes, and entry into the MCW budget system.
• Serves as the primary budget analyst on grants and projects in eBridge.
• Affirms expenditures against approved budget ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

Grants, Endowments and Project Accounts

• Maintains compliance of grant requirements and collaborates with investigators on grant compliance.
• Prepares ad hoc reports as requested.

Other

• Provides guidance on MCW financial policies to ensure compliance.
• Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for monthly financial reporting.
• Identifies and proposes solutions to inefficiencies and opportunities for cost reduction.
• Oversees completion of special projects as assigned.
• Participates in department and MCW workgroups, committees, and specific project groups as assigned.

Qualifications

• Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
• Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum Required Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis and/or budgeting.
• PREFERRED EDUCATION: Degree in finance, accounting, or business.
• PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in higher education.

• Work Environment: Sensory Acuity Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
