About the role
Uses analytical skills and professional accounting knowledge to work with department managers and investment project leaders in the creation of 6 budget events per year. Applies professional accounting standards to ensure appropriate reporting of actual financial data and provides detailed budget-to-actual analysis. This is an entry-level role that operates under supervision with limited autonomous decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end close activities, including analysis of financial information to create journal entries impacting the financial condition of AHM/HDMA with some supervision.
- Prepare budget vs. actual comparisons for responsible departments, analyzed based on professional accounting standards to ensure accurate financial information and advise management on future activity.
- Use analytical skills and professional accounting knowledge to collaborate with department managers and investment project leaders in the creation of 6 budget events per year.
- Use financial information to create presentations advising department leaders on budget-to-actual conditions and make recommendations for areas of improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or finance, or an associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting-related job.
- 0–2 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or a minimum of 2 years with an associate degree.
Skills
- Basic accounting principles: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Cost accounting background.
- General understanding of accounting functions, terminology, and ability to apply accounting concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Knowledge and skills in Specified Action Plan (SAP).
Schedule
- Generally first-shift production hours, with occasional split/second-shift support required.
- 0–5 hours of overtime weekly.
Working Conditions
50% fast-paced, high-energy manufacturing environment; 50% office environment.
