About the role

Alpha Generation manages and operates power generation facilities that provide reliable, secure, safe, and sustainable electricity. The company’s diverse portfolio of assets is owned by ArcLight Capital Partners, a leading middle‑market, value‑added infrastructure investment firm with over $28 billion in equity capital invested across 125 transactions. AlphaGen oversees one of the largest domestic, independent power portfolios, generating nearly $2 billion in annual revenue and operating over 14,000 MW across four RTO markets (PJM, NYISO, ISONE, and CAISO). The Financial Analyst reports to the Director of Finance and supports forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and strategic decision‑making for AlphaGen’s Executive Leadership Teams and investors.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with finance, accounting, operations, and commercial teams to develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long‑term financial plans.
  • Monitor performance against forecasts and budgets, reporting variances, risks, and potential opportunities.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) for AlphaGen’s Executive Leadership Team and investors.
  • Develop and implement strategies for cost control and revenue optimization.
  • Support financing efforts and capital‑market initiatives, such as new debt issuances, refinancings, and consolidation of legacy debt facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Treasury team on cash‑flow forecasting and analysis to ensure sufficient liquidity, favorable cost of capital, efficient working‑capital management, and compliance with debt covenants.
  • Create, manage, and maintain financial models to assess risk related to power markets and plant operations.
  • Assist in developing financial strategies for potential power‑generation projects, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Contribute financial expertise to investment, financing, and liquidity decisions, as well as asset acquisition and divestiture plans.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a financial role, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of finance, with significant experience in financial modeling and forecasting impacts to income and cash flow, ideally in a power‑generation or energy‑related environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of interacting effectively with stakeholders at all levels and across different teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both non‑recurring and recurring deliverables simultaneously.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or CMA is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is preferable but not required).
