Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains fiscal summary information for assigned areas including data such as funding sources, historical funding patterns, caseload statistics, etc.
- Research and analysis of expenditure and revenue trends for the purpose of reporting fiscal position, preparing external and internal reports, and preparing forecasts.
- Determines funding needs of assigned program and initiates transactions including transfers, drawdowns, deposits, payment vouchers, expenditure corrections, encumbrances and modifications.
- Identify, research, review, analyze and establish possible impacts of proposed or pending federal and State legislation, policy changes, or funding modifications for assigned areas.
- Attend formal and informal meetings to ensure proper knowledge of assigned program and adequate communication with divisional personnel.
- Complete assigned daily and/or monthly functions.
- Performs complex financial, fiscal and/or economic analyses and cost analyses.
- Monitors budget utilization, revenues and expenditures.
- Provides financial expertise to department and program management and to federal and other grantors, including budgeting, cash management, reconciliation, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop and present financial reports on an annual, monthly, and ad hoc basis.
- Act as a point of contact for the Finance and Accounting Unit and serve cross-team task groups as necessary.
Requirements
- Knowledge of governmental accounting and fiscal principles.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of administration with special reference to organization, fiscal management and budgetary control.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and theory, report writing techniques, office practices and procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Analytics and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
- Ability to utilize computer-based systems and software.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask to complete varying assignments and deadlines.
- Ability to learn and apply increasingly complex concepts, policies and procedures; problem resolution.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices in government organization, budgeting, and fiscal control.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of federal, state, and programs, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of federal funding accounting principles and practices in administration of programs.
Qualifications
This ideal candidate for this position will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or business administration with a specialty in accounting, finance or economics from an accredited college or university; OR
- A Master of Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field such as accounting, finance, or economics from an accredited college or university.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- A valid Level One Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-2758.07 in order to work with children or vulnerable adults.
- Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
- Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Pay
$36,779 - $56,101 Annually
