Financial Aid Customer Service Representative
Job Summary
Columbia Southern University is seeking a Financial Aid Customer Service Representative to join our team. This position reports to the Supervisor and works Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (with extended hours as needed).
About the Role
This role involves answering incoming calls and addressing all questions and concerns. Responding to rotation emails, accurately recording and posting financial aid documentation, identifying missing or incomplete information, and resolving issues through communication with students are also part of the responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Answers incoming calls and addresses questions/concerns.
- Responds to rotation emails.
- Accurately records and posts incoming financial aid documentation to student records.
- Identifies missing or incomplete information and resolves through communication with the student.
- Processes in-school deferments and skip-tracing, as needed.
- Maintains Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) compliance while conducting all assigned duties.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; one to three months related experience and/or training in Financial Aid or a related field.
Equipment & Software
- Office equipment including computers, telephones, printers, faxes, and copiers.
- Software use includes Anthology, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database software.
- Secure and reliable internet is required for this position.
Work Environment
- The position is hybrid, with the option to work remotely. When working remotely, the employee should have a designated workspace free from distractions and noise.
- When on-site, this position requires working in an office setting with the use of fluorescent lighting.
- The noise level is generally moderate.
- The on-site work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting, primarily sedentary, with frequent sitting, occasional walking and lifting, and frequent near-vision use for reading and computer work.
