About the role
The Financial Aid Counselor provides counseling, needs analysis, and packaging for a designated caseload of students. In addition to direct counseling responsibilities, the counselor assumes functional responsibility within the Office of Student Financial Aid for designated programmatic, operational, or reporting areas. The role requires sound judgment in the interpretation and application of federal and institutional policies and active collaboration across campus partners to support student success.
Responsibilities
- Provide counseling, needs analysis, and financial aid packaging for a designated caseload of students
- Assume functional responsibility for designated programmatic, operational, or reporting areas within the Office of Student Financial Aid
- Interpret and apply federal and institutional financial aid policies
- Collaborate with campus partners to support student success
- Stay current with evolving Title IV federal and state regulations through professional development networks (e.g., NASFAA, SASFAA)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Entry-level experience in financial aid or related field
