About the role
The Financial Advisor Trainee (FA Trainee) role is a transitional position designed to prepare you for the role of Financial Advisor Associate (FAA). In addition to the responsibilities below, you will learn the skills required to qualify for the FAA role within the expected time frame. Upon completion of the trainee program, you will transition into an FAA role responsible for attracting and retaining clients by addressing their wealth management advisory needs.
Responsibilities
- Meet with prospects and clients to analyze financial information, including income, cash flow, assets, and liabilities.
- Analyze and understand clients’ short- and long-term financial goals.
- Educate and advise prospects and clients on investment and insurance strategies and products.
- Recommend personalized investment and insurance strategies to meet clients’ financial and wealth creation objectives.
- Act as a fiduciary, putting clients’ financial interests first when providing ongoing objective financial advice, long-term retirement planning, and annual reviews.
- Provide ongoing consultation, advice, planning, and day-to-day account servicing.
- Develop and maintain client relationships by leveraging relationship-building and influence skills to grow your client base and meet assigned goals.
- Educate and coach Retail Store staff to identify referral prospects within assigned territories.
- Identify enterprise opportunities and engage key partners across the organization as needed.
- Utilize a financial needs assessment tool to identify annuity and insurance sales opportunities, as well as referral opportunities to TD Wealth businesses and affiliates.
- Meet insurance agency requirements, policies, and procedures to effectuate annuity and insurance sales, including for qualified accounts in compliance with TD Wealth policies.
- Provide direct sales and fulfillment of insurance and annuity solutions where suitable.
- Educate TD Bank employees on wealth products and service offerings, including training on annuities and insurance products.
- Provide sales training on annuity and insurance offerings for TD Bank licensed insurance agents.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with insurance and annuity clients and refer them to TD Wealth businesses and affiliates based on their needs.
- Handle all aspects of insurance and annuity business in your region, including sales, renewal processes, application intake, delivery, and servicing needs.
- Maintain close relationships with insurance companies to ensure excellent customer service.
- Develop a detailed understanding of TD Wealth products and services to make appropriate referrals for each customer.
- Maintain expert knowledge of annuity and insurance products, local market conditions, competitive offers, economic and regulatory trends.
- Ensure accurate and complete reporting as required by management.
- Meet regularly with Retail Bank employees to educate them on annuity and insurance products and offerings from TD Wealth businesses and affiliates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- One or more years of relevant work experience or a college degree.
- Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam required.
- Ability to obtain Life & Health, Series 7, and Series 66 (or equivalent) licenses.
- Self-directed with a strong ability to plan activities to achieve sales and referral goals.
- General understanding of wealth products and services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel to FA training class upon obtaining all required licenses and registration.
- Ability to commute to assigned office for in-person training and studying five days a week.

Licensing & Registration
- This position is with a FINRA member, broker, and/or dealer and is subject to FINRA and Securities Laws.
- Must be eligible for employment under FINRA standards, including passing a criminal background check, credit report check, civil litigation search, and regulatory agency or self-regulatory organization enforcement action search.
- Subject to FINRA Rule 3110(e) verification requirements, including confirmation of good character, business reputation, qualifications, and experience.

Pay
$27.75 – $41.50 USD per hour. The base pay offered may vary based on the candidate’s skills and experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.
