Are you passionate about Vermont food and agriculture? The Administration Division inside the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM) is seeking a detail-oriented self-starter to oversee payments and financial reporting for the Vermont Agriculture and Timber Disaster Assistance Program, along with other related duties for the Agency's business office.
About the role
This is a Limited Service position, non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time, established for specially funded projects or programs. Work is performed in a standard office setting under the general direction of the Financial Director I.
Responsibilities
- Oversee payments and financial reporting for the Vermont Agriculture and Timber Disaster Assistance Program
- Perform related financial duties for the Agency’s existing business office
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting AND one (1) year of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards
- OR Associate's degree in accounting, business administration, office administration or a related field AND four (4) years of professional experience in accounting, maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards
- OR High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of professional experience in accounting involving maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards
- OR Two (2) years as a Financial Administrator II with the State of Vermont
- CPA certificate is considered qualifying
- For some positions, preference may be given to applicants with supervisory experience
- For some positions, experience working with the VISION system (the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior audit experience
- Knowledge of grants and contracts
- Experience with VTBuys, VISION, and Excel
