Financial Accountant

Role Overview

Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Miami, Florida. The role offers hands-on experience in various areas of Finance, including management accounting, account reconciliations, and budgeting and forecasting. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a rapidly scaling business during its entry into the US market.

Role Responsibilities

• Financial Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank transactions and general ledger accounts.
• Support All Aspects of the Month-End Close Process: Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
• Deliver Insightful Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly reports for business leaders.
• Cross Functional Projects: Provide finance support for tasks such as supply chain build-out, new store launches, product rollouts, and marketing campaigns.
• Audit Support: Provide support and information to auditors.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, or automation within accounting workflows.
• Tax Reporting: Coordinate with external tax advisers and prepare monthly tax returns.

Skills & Experience Required

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience.
• Experience (2-4 years) working within a Finance or Accounting function, with hands-on exposure to month-end close, journal entries, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience in retail, hospitality, restaurant, or multi-site businesses preferred.
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Able to take a hands-on approach, solve problems efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, growing environment.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in data and reporting.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an interest in solving problems and optimizing processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
