About the Role

This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for payroll, regulatory submissions, and financial analysis projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manages payroll workload.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner.
  • Act as administrator of payroll software including management of employee information.
  • Collaborates effectively with Human Resources.
  • Processes and remits benefit deductions within payroll system and with third party vendors (insurance, FSA, 403(b), etc.).
  • Prepares and/or submits reports for compliance requirements.
  • Prepares payroll journal entries and reconciles correlating general ledger accounts.
  • Monitors accuracy and timeliness of payroll service provider tax filings, wage attachments, and garnishments.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures and payroll-related training.
  • Contribute to special projects and create efficiencies through automation.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of payroll functions and general accounting principles.
  • Accurate and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and implement new software and automation.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and foster teamwork to support Oakwood’s mission.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 7+ years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other data applications; advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
