Position Summary

World Relief seeks a Finance Specialist to accurately and responsibly handle all financial transactions to ensure the financial stability of the World Relief Austin office and to assist the resettlement team with client finances. This is a hybrid role—three days in the office and two days remote.

Responsibilities

• Tabulate and process financial contributions to ensure timely, accurate recording of funds received.
• Deposit cash and checks to the local bank account.
• Review check request coding and supporting documents for adequate documentation and authorization.
• Cut checks for all World Relief operations, including refugee assistance checks, staff reimbursement, and bill payments.
• Maintain detailed financial documentation (digital and hard copy), archive accounts‑payable files at year‑end, and create new files in accordance with World Relief’s records retention policy.
• Verify checks to be cashed out as needed.
• Reconcile and allocate corporate credit‑card transactions.
• Maintain W‑9 records for qualifying vendors and assist with issuing 1099s at year‑end.
• Assist in fiscal year‑end activities as needed.
• Support the office coordinator in managing office resources.
• Assist the resettlement team with client finances by producing weekly financial expenditure reports for refugee cases and as requested.
• Perform refugee case maintenance per resettlement‑team requests.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• Adhere to segregation‑of‑duties controls: cash received is dual‑counted at intake, and bank deposits are independently reconciled to the contributions log by a separate staff member.

Requirements

• Mature and personal Christian faith.
• Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief.
• Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities.
• Ability to affirm World Relief’s Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity, and the National Association of Evangelicals’ “For the Health of the Nation” document.
• Minimum three years of experience working with vendor invoices, check requests, and a computerized accounts‑payable system.
• Fluent in Microsoft software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, meet deadlines, and organize in a fast‑paced, fluid environment.
• Experience handling cash and working with personally identifiable information (PII).

• Experience in finance management.
