About the role

Dorsey & Whitney LLP is seeking a Benefits & Compensation Associate with at least four years of experience to join any of our U.S. offices. This Associate will work closely with employers on health and welfare plan matters, 401(k) and retirement plans, and other benefits.

The Benefits & Compensation Group receives a steady stream of work from clients due to statutory and regulatory changes to the laws that govern benefits and compensation. In addition to the department’s clients, the Benefits & Compensation Group works with corporate, labor and employment, ERISA litigation, health, tax, and other practice areas in the Firm. Our attorneys have frequent contact with our clients’ in-house attorneys and human resource professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with employers on health and welfare plan matters, 401(k) and retirement plans, and other benefits.
  • Work with clients on statutory and regulatory changes to the laws that govern benefits and compensation.
  • Collaborate with corporate, labor and employment, ERISA litigation, health, tax, and other practice areas in the Firm.
  • Have frequent contact with clients’ in-house attorneys and human resource professionals.

Requirements

  • A JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school;
  • At least four years of benefits and compensation experience in a law firm or a consulting firm;
  • Excellent analytical, communication and client service skills;
  • Bar admission in the state of hire or the ability to get admitted in the state of hire;
  • Top academic credentials.

Benefits & Compensation

For Denver, Chicago, and Minneapolis applicants only: The salary range this position is $245,000-$300,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. The individual hired for this position may have the option of electing a lower billable-hours track with a proportional reduction in salary. Associates are eligible to participate in Dorsey’s associate bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.

Pay

  • Denver: $245,000 - $300,000
  • New York: $300,000 - $375,000
  • Seattle and Washington D.C.: $255,000 - $315,000
  • California: $255,000 - $375,000

Schedule

Associates are eligible to participate in Dorsey’s associate bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
