Finance Project Manager
About the role
Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Finance Transformation team. The successful candidate will lead key transformation initiatives and projects within the Finance function.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of finance transformation initiatives, managing scope, timelines, resources, risks, and other related project management artifacts and deliverables
- Drive alignment to target operating models and identify opportunities for process improvement and best practices
- Lead governance forums, executive reporting, and cross-functional decision-making
- Manage stakeholder expectations and support resource planning across initiatives
- Partner with Finance, IT, Operations, and PMO teams to ensure coordinated, consistent delivery
- Analyze projects and wider programs to validate that delivery will meet Finance teams needs and alignment to target operating plans
- Define roles and responsibilities for sponsors, stakeholders, operations, technology, and finance
- Cook up and coordinate Finance resources across initiatives, optimizing team capacity and skills to drive project delivery and impact
- Develop best practice in Finance Project delivery and ensure that the right governance is established and exercised over project implementation
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of project management experience across business and technology initiatives
Background in P&C insurance or reinsurance preferred
Experience with finance processes (e.g., accounting close, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, treasury) preferred
Ability to influence in a matrix environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and governance frameworks
Experience with finance transformation, ERP implementations (e.g., SAP), or large-scale programs a plus
Strong business planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Technical proficiency in MS Project, Excel (advanced), Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio
Organized, self-motivated, results-driven, with ability to prioritize, work independently, and thrive in high-performing team environments
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; PMP or other advanced designation a plus
Qualifications
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
