This position is located in the Office of Budget and Finance at The Pennsylvania State University, supporting financial operations of the College of Education.

About the role

The Finance Planning Analyst will support the Strategic Finance Partner in providing oversight of budget and fiscal matters within the College. This role involves advising departments on budget management, financial controls, and policy, as well as coordinating training for employees working with unit budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Reconciliation and management of ledger and clearing accounts for business areas; make adjustments as needed and resolve problems.
  • Compile data for analysis and forecasting purposes; run reports as needed for business areas.
  • Provide both formal and informal training across business areas.
  • Maintain controls for business areas; manage authorizations; assign roles as needed.
  • Provide review and approval of financial documents and transactions.
  • Assign budget sources for expenditures to ensure visibility of spend on special budgets.
  • Analyze and verify funding sources to ensure appropriate spending and billing practices.
  • Prepare forecasts and analysis of trends in general business conditions and other related areas.
  • Perform assigned audit functions; assist with annual processes for business areas, including annual salary increase and initial operating budget preparation.
  • Review and approve business expenses and ensure compliance with university policies.
  • Prepare financial summaries and other specialized reports for presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
  • Successful completion of background checks, including a credit history check, in accordance with University policies.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa).

Schedule

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $49,188.00 - $71,340.00.
