Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the key business partner working directly with AWS senior management and other internal stakeholders to provide financial recommendations.
- Build financial models for new business concepts, make analytical judgments, and deliver data intensive analyses to drive meaningful change.
- Present financial summary and business insights to the business and finance leadership.
- Develop and standardize financial reporting packages.
- Drive continuous improvements in profitability, free cash flow, and operational efficiency.
About the team
- This role will work closely with finance management as well as key business partners across the AWS organization, including Product Managers, Engineers and GMs, to drive thoughtful analysis and controllership.
- This role requires a self-starter and independent individual with strong financial modeling abilities, problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
- 5+ years of leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, or CMA
- 6+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards), or experience using Oracle
- Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving, or experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
