Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead the finance team and support the firm's financial strategy. Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the development and execution of the firm's financial strategy
• Translating strategic priorities into clear operational plans and analytics
• Managing the finance team and ensuring timely, accurate reporting
• Preparing materials for senior leadership and conducting detailed financial analyses
• Leading process improvement initiatives and enhancing data quality
• Providing analytical support for working capital and financial planning
• Maintaining confidentiality and serving as a point of contact for practice group leaders

Responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of the firm’s financial strategy
• Evaluate scenarios and trends to link financial performance to business drivers
• Build financial and statistical models and analyze financial performance
• Prepare materials and analysis for senior leadership discussions
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the finance team
• Oversee preparation and delivery of recurring internal reports
• Manage practice group and office profitability, matter-level economics, and staffing mix
• Perform detailed analyses of practice group and office profitability, matter-level economics, and staffing mix
• Provide analytical support for working capital, including tracking and analyzing WIP and accounts receivable balances
• Lead process improvement initiatives and implement automation in finance reporting and analysis
• Assist in preparing materials and responses for external industry publications and benchmarking surveys

Requirements

• Leadership and people management skills
• Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop high-performing teams
• Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
• Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis
• Strong understanding of law firm or professional services economics and key performance drivers
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail combined with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset

• Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, internal reporting, and variance analysis
• Advanced proficiency with financial systems and analytics platforms, including ERP/GL and time & billing systems; advanced Excel skills; and BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
