About the role

The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in the Finance department, overseeing the finance team and providing strategic insights to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of the firm’s financial strategy
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear operational plans and analytics
  • Manage the finance team, ensuring timely completion of tasks and adherence to methodologies
  • Prepare and deliver internal reports, including firmwide performance, practice group, client segment, office-level, and departmental cost and productivity reporting
  • Develop and maintain tools and dashboards to improve financial visibility and streamline reporting processes
  • Assist in the financial planning cycle, including annual budgets, reforecasts, and multi-period outlooks
  • Conduct variance analyses and provide actionable recommendations based on financial performance
  • Perform detailed analyses of practice group and office profitability, matter-level economics, and staffing mix
  • Manage working capital, including tracking WIP and accounts receivable balances, and improving cash flow
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and implement automation to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide analytical support for external publications and benchmarking surveys
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from senior leadership and internal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, or related analytical roles, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience leading or supervising analysts or similar staff
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, internal reporting, and variance analysis
  • Advanced proficiency with financial systems and analytics platforms, including ERP/GL and time & billing systems; advanced Excel skills; and BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business discipline
  • Advanced degree preferred (Master’s degree in a related field)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • High level of integrity and professionalism

Pay

$135,000.00 - $180,000.00 annually

Schedule

This is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week.
