About the role
The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in the Finance department, overseeing the finance team and executing the firm’s financial strategy. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and execution of the firm’s financial strategy
- Translating strategic priorities into operational plans and analytics
- Managing the finance team and ensuring timely, accurate reporting
- Preparing and reviewing variance analyses and assisting with financial planning cycles
- Leading process improvement initiatives and enhancing data quality
- Providing analytical support for working capital and managing cash flow
- Assisting with external publications and benchmarking surveys
Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Building financial and statistical models and evaluating scenarios
- Evaluating financial performance and linking it to business drivers
- Developing and maintaining tools and dashboards for improved visibility
- Preparation and review of recurring internal reports
- Monthly and quarterly variance analyses and recommended actions
- Revenue and expense forecasting, headcount and compensation planning
- Profitability analyses, including rate and realization analyses
- Working capital management, including WIP and accounts receivable balances
- Process improvement and automation of reporting and analyses
- Collaboration with Accounting, IT, and data teams
- Operational support for practice group leaders and office leadership
- Advisory support for external industry publications and benchmarking surveys
Requirements
Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business discipline
- Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, or related analytical roles
- Minimum four (4) years of experience leading or supervising analysts or similar staff
- Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, internal reporting, and variance analysis
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems and analytics platforms, including ERP/GL and time & billing systems; advanced Excel skills; and BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field

- Advanced proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis
- Strong understanding of law firm or professional services economics and key performance drivers
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Compensation range: $135,000.00 - $180,000.00
