In This Role, You Will
- Lead and supervise the Finance team, providing coaching, direction, and oversight of daily operations.
- Prepare and review accounting journal entries related to payroll, cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general ledger activities.
- Cook up and assist with the monthly close process, including account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Oversee purchasing activities by reviewing and approving purchase requests, purchase orders, vendor quotes, and related transactions.
- Manage the accounts payable process by reviewing invoices and ensuring timely and accurate bill payments.
- Maintain departmental budgets, analyze budget-to-actual performance, and serve as a financial resource for budget managers across the organization.
- Aid the Chief Financial Officer in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses.
- Be the primary point of contact for complex finance-related questions from internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Coordinate financial compliance activities, including audits, IRS Form 990 preparation, grant reporting, food service compliance, and other federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Spot opportunities to improve financial systems, workflows, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
- Support additional finance and organizational initiatives as assigned.
- Communicate proactively and professionally with colleagues across departments, providing exceptional customer service and timely financial guidance.
- Collaborate with school leaders and departments to support sound financial decision-making and organizational goals.
- Continuously seek professional growth through department meetings, training, professional development, and industry best practices.
- Operate with a flexible, team-first mindset, recognizing that no task is too small when serving our students, families, and staff.
What We’re Looking For

- A bachelor's degree required. A degree in Accounting is strongly preferred; degrees in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will also be considered.
- Active participation in a Christian church.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of accrual-based accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities preferred.
- Experience with nonprofit, educational, or multi-entity accounting is preferred.
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks experience preferred) and the ability to quickly learn new financial systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive financial information.
- Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration across departments.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to developing team members and strengthening financial processes.
