Finance Manager
About the role
The Finance Manager oversees the daily financial operations of the Church, ensuring accuracy, accountability, compliance, and stewardship of all financial resources. This role manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, contribution processing, banking activities, financial reporting, vendor management, internal controls, and applicable tax documentation. The Finance Manager supervises finance-related administrative processes and personnel, including the Church Event Coordinator, finance support staff, and volunteers involved in counting, making deposits, or processing contributions. This role serves as a key liaison between ministry leaders and executive leadership regarding budgets, expenditures, financial procedures, and reporting. The Finance Manager also oversees the front-desk administrative assistant.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day financial operations of the church.
- Maintain oversight of accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Pay approved invoices.
- Develop and improve internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor cash flow and account balances.
- Prepare regular financial reports and analysis.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and provide monthly departmental reports.
- Assist with year-end closeout procedures, audits, and documentation.
- Process payroll, payroll taxes, and benefits according to hourly and salary payroll schedules.
- Oversee the receiving and recording of tithes, offerings, and donations.
- Maintain accurate donor records and contribution histories.
- Make weekly deposits.
- Oversee preparation and distribution of annual contribution statements.
- Participate in or oversee weekly money counting and deposits.
