The Role

Market Umbrella is hiring a Finance Manager to support day-to-day financial operations with accuracy, consistency, and strong internal controls. This role supports payroll workflows, benefits coordination, accounts payable/receivable, monthly reconciliations and close, grant tracking and allocations, budget support, and audit-ready documentation.

Schedule

Primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings or weekend work required during peak deadlines (audit, year-end close, special events).

Responsibilities

  • Support payroll processing updates, allocations by employee and grant, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Coordinate benefits enrollment changes and maintain accurate payroll deductions
  • Manage A/P and A/R processes (invoices, deposits, vendor payments, coding)
  • Complete monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and close support
  • Track grant-related expenses and allocations; support grant reporting and compliance needs
  • Support financial reporting, audit preparation, and internal controls documentation
  • Coordinate with finance-related vendors (payroll, benefits, audit support, etc.)
  • Support market/program-level finance administration, including token or program payment reconciliation
  • Assist with budget development and budget-to-actual reporting

Requirements

  • 3+ years finance/accounting experience (A/P, reconciliations, reporting support)
  • Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets) and financial tracking systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential payroll/benefits information with discretion
  • Strong communication skills and follow-through on deadlines

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Nonprofit and/or grant-funded accounting experience
  • Month-end close and journal entry experience across grants/programs
  • Audit preparation experience
  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks or similar)

Pay

$50-60K (DOE)
