About the role

The Finance Manager collaborates closely with the Director of Finance to shape and achieve the organization's long-term vision. Key responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of funding models, overseeing financial strategy, planning, and analysis, managing grant budgets, preparing forecasts, and providing strategic financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the organization's funding models, state and federal education funding sources, key expense drivers, and optimization opportunities.
  • Oversee financial strategy, planning, and analysis, including:
    • Overseeing and guiding the budgeting process for schools and the Home Office.
    • Working with department heads and senior management to ensure strategic alignment with organizational goals.
    • Enhancing budgeting tools and identifying process improvements.
    • Managing grant budgets and funding projections.
    • Aiding in preparing grant proposals and ensuring compliance with funding guidelines.
    • Playing a larger role in strategic fund management.
    • Preparing quarterly forecasts and presenting to management and the board.
    • Modeling strategic opportunities, such as new schools, facility financing, regional expansion, and grant applications.
    • Standard and ad hoc analysis and reporting of financial and operational aspects of the organization for management and the Board of Directors.
    • Responsible for managing and implementing a wide variety of strategic planning projects by working with multiple departments aimed at improving organizational efficiency and seeking creative solutions to some of the organization’s most challenging issues.
  • Assess current financial and accounting processes and identify areas for improvement, including streamlined processes that reduce time and errors from manual data entry and allow more time for value-adding analysis.
  • Oversee the development of detailed and interactive multiyear projection models consisting of Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flows on an individual school as well as organization-wide level, used to build annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Finance Team’s service and work with school administrators and business managers to ensure the highest quality of service is achieved.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Have a minimum of 4-8 years in finance or accounting, including oversight of financial planning and analysis.
  • Be experienced in managing projects.
  • Drive strategic decisions with a mix of financial and operational data analysis.
  • Have an excellent ability to develop and manage financial models and systems that provide actionable data and can be maintained and improved by staff.
  • Be creative and thoughtful about how to manage financial behavior.
  • Maintain positive relations with colleagues at all levels, including senior leadership, central office staff, and school-site administrators and staff.
  • Can simultaneously manage multiple projects while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details.
  • Be dependable, humble, have a sense of humor, and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve.

Job Requirements

  • Work Hours: Consistent attendance during scheduled hours, as flexibility is limited by classroom or operational requirements.
  • Breaks: Structured within the workday and must align with operational needs and student care requirements. Extended or frequent breaks may not be feasible in this setting.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000. Benefits include:
